IGP reviews security arrangements of I-day in Jammu

Jammu and Kashmir Inspector General of Police today reviewed the arrangements for Independence Day and asked officials to put in their best to ensure adequate security during the celebrations on the day.
IGP Sunil Sharma, who chaired a security review meeting to take stock of the arrangements at the Security Headquarters (Jammu) stressed upon effective coordination, better synergy, adequate briefing to the officers and effective supervision over ground deployment to achieve better results, a police spokesman said.
He reviewed the security scenario in Jammu Zone, especially arrangements made for forthcoming Independence Day.
Officers from intelligence agencies, police telecommunication, police, fire services, railways, airport, paramilitary and civil administration briefed everyone in the meeting about various arrangements made in the backdrop of the Independence Day, he said.
The meeting was called to check whether all security arrangements have been put in place and if field officers concerned and units stand thoroughly briefed and sensitised.
Instructions were also given to officers responsible for the security of railways, airport, civil secretariat, high court and other vital installations to remain extra alert and maintain high standard of security.
The emergency response system of fire fighting, medical contingencies and SDRF will conduct mock exercises to be ready to meet any eventuality, the spokesman said.
He urged the officers to work with better synergy and coordination for making Independence Day function successful, he added.
