The IIFA Rocks began with technical award last evening where Anurag Basu's "Barfi!" took home the major trophies including Best Screenplay, Cinematography and Make-up among others.
"This is my second IIFA award for screenplay. I want to dedicate this award to my better half Tani, who believed in my half baked script of Barfi. I learnt scriptwriting by watching Salim-Javed's film," said writer-director Basu, while accepting the Best Screenplay award.
Newcomer Arjun Kapoor's performance kicked off with a dare-devil stunt. He entered the stage hanging on a cable to showcase all the facets of an Indian actor - romantic, macho, strong and protective.
After high energy dance routines, music-composer Pritam Chakroborty and his troupe comprising Arijit Singh, Aditi Singh Sharma and Benny Dayal jammed on hit numbers like 'Batameez Dil', 'Kabira' and 'Raabta'.
Actor Sonu Sood paid homage to the Bollywood baddy with his debut performance in IIFA while Sophie Chowdhury performed on hit item numbers from the days of Helen to Kareena Kapoor.
