IIMC Exec council approves promotion scheme for teachers

The Executive Council of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) today approved a scheme for promotion of teachers of the journalism school.
The IIMC Executive Council met here and took some important decisions including approval of a Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for teachers, which will pave way for their promotion.
"The approval of CAS is important as it lays down norms for promotion of faculty. We will be introducing certain amendments in the recruitment rules after which CAS will be introduced," a senior official said after the meeting which was chaired by I&B Secretary Sunil Arora.
Among other key decisions include ratification of the appointment of new Director General KG Suresh, enhancing medical facility for IIMC employees for OPD treatment to Rs 24,000 per annum and elevating the position of OSD in the institute to Additional Director General (ADG) level, an official source said.

The IIMC Executive Council was recently constituted and eminent journalists, faculty and senior officials were included as new members.
