The police said Gyan Sagar Sharma, Kali Kanta Jha and Manoj Jha were arrested and an illegal arms factory was unearthed at Sharma's residence at Arabinda Nagar of Sonarpur.
The police said that the trio was arrested in a raid early today when they got a complaint from Ramkumar Jha that he was kidnapped by them and took Rs 2.5 lakh as ransom.
Ramkumar complained to the police when the trio was threatening him for paying of the remaining Rs 2.5 of ransom.
A 13-member team of police seized 11 pipeguns, one machine, raw materials to make guns, one 9 mm pistol, 31 cartridges, a double-barrel gun and a Columbia-made kukri.
The trio hailed from Munger district in Bihar and would supply illegal guns to anti-social elements in South 24-Parganas district, North 24-Parganas district and Nadia.
