ILPS seekers storm BJP office, 10 injured

At least 10 persons were injured after volunteers of the student and women wing of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) tried to storm the state BJP office today, police said.
The volunteers were injured after a scuffle broke out between them and the police personnel who lobbed tear gas shells and used batons to disperse them.
Police said they managed to drive away the volunteers for around 100 metres from the gate of the BJP office.
The ILP seekers then regrouped at the Keisampat junction and stalled all vehicular movements and forced shops of the adjoining market to down their shutters.

Later, another group of JCILPS volunteers tried to head for the state Congress office but were stopped by the police.
Policemen and women were deployed and barricades had been put up, as JCILPS had earlier announced that it would storm office premises of political parties in Imphal to press their demands for converting three Bills into Acts with the assent of the President.
The three Bills were introduced in the Assembly in August last year after the State Government signed an agreement with JCILPS on August 25 following an agitation by it demanding implementation of ILPS in Manipur.
