The party sought strict action against those found violating the court order in the state.
"The law enforcing authorities should not take a lenient view of such elements who violate the court directions and indulge in provoking and hurting sentiments by their acts, which have the potential of creating communal tension and vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the state," BJP state vice-president and MLC Ramesh Arora said today.
"Let the law take its own course and be implemented in letter and spirit without fear, and favour," he said.
"In fact, there is nothing new and Section 298 of Ranbir Penal Court already prescribed punishment of 10 years for cow slaughtering. It was remained banned during the regime of Maharaja," he said.
Arora said,"In the state of Jammu and Kashmir a good gesture was given by the government and ban was imposed on slaughtering of cow respecting the sentiments of Hindu religion, which was welcomed by all."
"BJP is committed that sentiments of all communities including Muslims and Hindus are to be respected because we are democratic state and socio welfare government and will appeal the people to expose all those who wanted to disturb peace and harmony," he said.
