Congress today demanded that all expenses incurred on publicity by BJP should be included in the election expenditure of Narendra Modi and not his party.
In a memorandum to the Election Commission, Congress said the manner in which the campaign is being managed shows that it's a Modi campaign and not an election campaign of BJP.
"It is submitted that since the entire campaign is to seek vote for Narendra Modi, the expenditure incurred is unauthorised and the total expenditure should go in his account; alternatively the proportionate expenditure of the total expenditure incurred by him or BJP for such campaign should go to his personal account in Vadodara Lok Sabha constituency, where he is seeking votes," the memorandum said.
It also said certain organisations are campaigning for BJP candidates and using religion for the purpose.
"No association, organisation, institution, group or any other establishment, other than a registered and recognised political party is competent and authorised to conduct political activities.
"It has been observed all over the country that such organisations are actively campaigning...They are indulging in political activities without following the norms prescribed by the EC...," the memorandum added.
