"The crime branch has registered a case against income tax lawyer Rajesh Verma and his wife Sangeeta Verma for preparing fake and forged documents which caused huge financial loss to his client," Senior Superintendent of Police Crime Branch Mubassir Latifi said.
He said that action was taken on complaint of one Pardeep Kumar, who had alleged that the accused made fake documents and used them to take rent on his property from a tenant.
"Victim's father had hired the accused as his income tax consultant, but after his death, the accused prepared fake rent deeds and fake power of attorney and cheated the son of his client," Latifi said.
"The accused, along with his wife, has been booked by the crime branch under various sections of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC)," he said.
