BSP supremo Mayawati today lamented about "double troubles" faced by people of the state due to the wrong policies of the Central and state governments.
"The government which had promised to bring 'achchey din' is bent upon making people cry and for the 20 crore people of Uttar Pradesh who are also faced with discriminatory and casteist politics of SP government; it is double trouble," she said while addressing party leaders and office bearers here.
"There is a sense of hopelessness among the people because of the wrong policies of these governments. Their works are not in peoples' interests but are casteist and communal, aimed at benefiting a handful of people," she said.
The BSP leader labelled both the governments "non-serious" towards issues like inflation, poverty, unemployment and social justice.
She said that cases of corruption in UP and BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh are coming to the fore in a big way.
She alleged that by Land Acquisition Bill, the Modi government was working for an arrangement by which land of farmers would be forcibly snatched.
The leader also noted that indirect taxes have added to the woes of common people.
In the meeting it was alleged that the UP government is merely concerned about the development of Etawah and Kannauj area and whatever work is being done is guided by casteism.
