An officer of a polling booth here could land in trouble for applying indelible ink on top actor Rajinikanth's right index finger instead of the left during polling for the Lok Sabha elections on Thursday.
Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo said the EC instructions make it clear that the index finger on the left hand should be the first choice but said it could be a "genuine mistake," when asked about reports of the indelible ink being applied on the actor's right index finger when he voted.
"Election Commission's instructions is first it should be the left hand index finger or the the next finger or the next. If not, one can go for the right hand," he told reporters.
"Let's see. It appears to be a genuine mistake," Sahoo said on what kind of action could be taken in the matter.
