He was reacting to reports about absence of cops allegedly leading to delay in trials.
"This is no diversion. Whatsoever, it is a part of our essential duties," Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said.
The top city cop said that in response to media reports which claimed that nearly 10,000 trials have been delayed in the past one week because the police battalion entrusted with escorting undertrials between courts and prisons has been diverted towards the arrangements for the four-day summit.
However, police sources said that personnel deployed in the security of the summit have been sourced not only from the two major police districts -- New Delhi and Central -- but also from specialised units like the Crime Branch, Special Cell, PCR and Traffic.
