Indians collected seven more medals, including two gold, on the penultimate day of competitions in the 5th Commonwealth Youth Games here today.
Archer Prachi Singh bagged a gold in the girls recurve individual event while the tennis mixed doubles team of Sasikumar Mukund and Dhruthi Tatachar Venugopal clinched another yellow metal to boost India's medal tally.
Boxer Gourav Solanki (52kg), archer Nishant Kumawat (boys recurve individual) and the squash mixed team of Velavan Senthil Kumar and Harshit Jawanda were the silver medal winners, while pugilists Leichombam Bhimchand Singh (49kg) and Prayag Chauhan (64kg) settled for bronze.
With just a day left in the Games, India occupy sixth spot in the medal tally with a total haul of 17 medals (7 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze) behind Australia, England, South Africa, Malaysia and New Zealand.
India's medal tally will increase on the last day of competitions tomorrow as tennis players Sasikumar and Dhruthi play in their respective boys and girls singles finals.
Prachi beat Nondiny Khan Shopna of Bangladesh in the girls recurve individual final to bag the gold. She also ended on top in the mixed team event, which, however, is a non-medal event in the Games.
The Indian mixed doubles pair of Sasikumar and Dhruthi defeated Scottish combination of Louie-Ada McClelland and Ewen Lumsden 7-6(4) 6-3 in the summit clash to clinch India's second gold of the day.
