Government today gave its approval to a pact between India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the French civil aviation authority, DGAC, for technical cooperation in implementing ICAO standards and practices.
The two sides --DGCA and Direction Generale de l'Aviation Civile (DGAC) of France-- have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard.
"The Union Cabinet, under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its ex-post facto approval to the signing of MOU between the DGCA of India and the French Civil Aviation Authority DGAC of France to implement technical cooperation programme for promotion and implementation of standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)," an official release said.
The MoU would be effective for a term of four years, it said.
ICAO is the apex aviation body under the United Nations.
According to the release, the pact would also help in imparting training of engineers, technicians, managers, among others.
The MoU will also include other issues relevant to the common areas of interest of DGAC and DGCA, it said, adding cooperation between the two sides will be by way of exchange of information concerning the various techniques used to reach the objectives.
As part of the agreement, French and Indian experts or instructors would also visit each other's country for training missions, the release said.
The specific activities to be performed by Indian aviation regulator and the DGAC of France under the pact will be carried out by mutual consent, it added.
