India wins more than 150 medals at World Police and Fire Games

India has won a record 156 medals, including 89 gold and 50 silvers, in the World Police and Fire games held in the suburb of the American Capital.
Topping this tally on medal haul was Richa Mishra from Central Reserve Police Force, who won six golds and two silvers in swimming events.
Kulwinder Kaur, an assistant sub inspector with Punjab Police bagged five gold medals in the track and field events.
The 50-member Indian delegation competed in seven categories: athletics, wrestling, boxing, judo, archery, swimming and shooting.
Among other prominent winners were Sini Sahadevan of Kerala Police (4 golds, 1 silver), Monika Choudhary of CRPF (4 golds, 1 silver), Jayashree Boragi of Maharashtra Police (3 golds, 1 silver, 1 bronze), Jojimol Joseph of Kerala Police (3 golds, 1 silver, 2 bronzes) and Ayana Thomas of CRPF (3 golds, 3 silvers), Ranjana Gupta of UP Police (3 golds, 2 silvers, 1 bronze), Kuheli Gangulee of CISF (3 gold and 3 silvers), Jhanu Hansda of Jharkhand Police (3 golds) and Sumandeep Kaur of CRPF (3 golds).

This is for the first time that the Indian contingent's medal tally has crossed 100.

The previous best was at Belfast, Northern Ireland in 2013 when India won 83 medals.
The games are open to active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel across the world. The games concluded on Sunday.
They attract nearly 10,000 participants, slightly fewer than the Summer Olympic Games, and exceeding third position holder Commonwealth Games.
