The first half of the match saw a defensive game from the Indian team. But two penalty corners in New Zealand's favour were successfully converted by Siobhan Nuzum and Su Arn Kwek, giving the hosts a 2-0 lead by the end of the first half.
The Junior Black Sticks Women were on an attacking spree and held the Indians back from opening their account in the match.
Repeated efforts from the Indians went in vain, as the Black Sticks went on to penetrate the Indian D and sliced in three more goals in the second half to take the goal tally 5-0.
India will be taking on New Zealand again tomorrow in their fourth match.
