Pakistan wildlife authorities have captured an Indian leopard from near the international border in central Punjab province, an official said today.
A wildlife department official told PTI that the young leopard entered Pakistani territory near Pasrur in Narowal sector, 100 kilometres from Lahore, yesterday.
"It was more like a scene from a movie with people running for their lives after the big cat entered a village in Pasrur," he said.
At least three persons suffered critical injuries when the leopard attacked them. The big cat also killed a dog.
The injured were taken to Pasrur Civil Hospital, where doctors described their condition as serious.
"After receiving calls from the villagers, wildlife experts reached there and hit the leopard with a dart containing sedatives and shifted it to Lahore," the official said.
A month ago, the wildlife department captured a deer that had crossed into Pakistan from India. The deer was subsequently moved to Lahore Zoo.
The official said the leopard would also find its place in the same zoo.
