Dutt's contract with the DFB runs through 2016. His main job is to supervise the development of junior sides.
The DFB's board will meet next week to decide whether to release Dutt. He has been associated with the Federation since August last year.
Dutt had in the past managed Bayern Leverkusen but was fired after an unimpressive run in April last year. He had replaced then Bayern Munich bound Jupp Heynckes in Luverkusen.
Dutt had also coached Stuttgarter Kickers for four years.
As a player, Dutt never made it big, playing amateur football in the fifth, sixth, seventh divisions in Germany.
Dutt's coaching career started with the TSG Leonberg whom he coached until 1999. He then joined TSF Ditzingen, first as their second team coach and then as the coach of the main team.
He was born and brought up in Germany. He has a German mother and Indian (Bengali) father from Kolkata, who moved to Germany in the late 1950s.
