The Indian tourists were third largest spenders during January-June period, after visitors from China who spent Singapore dollar 1.73 billion, an increase of 43 per cent per year and Indonesia who spent Singapore dollar 1.24 billion, an increase of 15 per cent per year.
The Indians spent Singapore dollar 759 million (USD 545.6) out of which 39 per cent was on accommodation, 18 per cent on shopping, 15 per cent on food and beverages and 28 per cent on other holiday related expenses, according to latest statistics from Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
Comparatively, China was rated first with 1.473 million visitors, up 55 per cent per year and Indonesia 1.413 million, up 7 per cent.
Overall, Singapore received 8.2 million tourists during January-June period, an increase of 13 per cent over the same period of last year.
Tourism receipts grew by 12 per cent to Singapore dollar 11.6 billion.
"Increasingly, we are seeing more visitors with higher propensity to spend from major cities in markets such as India and Australia," said the STB.
