Indian troupe performs at a music festival in Egypt

An Indian troupe was among 17 other bands of the world, including from Pakistan, the US and China, that participated in the closing ceremony of a seven-day International Music festival held here.
Indian vocalist Sonam Kalra and her troupe Sufi Gospel Project performed in different places in Cairo's historical sites, including the Cairo Citadel and Moaz street, during the the 7th International Samaa Festival for Spiritual Music and Chanting which came to an end yesterday.
The closing ceremony saw troupe performances from countries like Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Syria, Jordan, Kuwait, Cameroon, Zambia, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Bosnia, Greece, the US and China.

The Indian troupe blended all the voices of faith, through the use of song, music and the spoken word.
"When it comes to faith and music, religion is not relevant. The music emerged through a collaborative and organic process, combining our musical abilities and collective improvisation and feeding off our diverse beliefs," Sonam Kalra said.
