Indians have done noteworthy job in space technology: Kakodkar

Former chairman of Atomic Energy Commission Dr Anil Kakodkar has said that the kind of work done by Indian scientists and engineers in space research and technology has proved that the other countries' notions about India's capabilities in the field were wrong.
"Other countries had been saying that it would be difficult and costly for India to carry out space research and achieve success in the launch of satellites. But with due respect to their work and experience of those countries, I would like to say that the kind of work being done by the Indian scientists and engineers is noteworthy. They have done a commendable job," he said.

"If USD 1,000 spent on building something in foreign countries, the same is done by our scientists and engineers in just around USD 400," Kakodkar said.
The eminent nuclear scientist was addressing the 51st conference of Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Vidnyan Parishad here last evening.
Listing out India's achievements in space programmes, he said, every Indian should be proud of the fact that the engineers and scientists have contributed towards it in some way or the other.
He also lauded the contributions made by the College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) and IIT-Bombay in the country's space missions and urged other institutions to follow suit.
