A two-week-long Indo-Nepal joint military exercise began today at Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand with an aim to enhance anti-terror cooperation.
Christened 'Surya Kiran', it is eleventh such joint exercise between armies of the two countries in boosting counter insurgency operations in mountainous terrain.
The Nepal Army is being represented by the officers and troops of the elite Durga Baksh battalion while Indian side was represented by the Ekta Shakti battalion of the Punjab Regiment of the Army.
The exercise will help enhance defence co-operation and military relations between the two countries, the Defence Ministry said.
