Indore court acquits 4 persons accused of illegal conversion

A district court has acquitted four persons including two women of the charge of trying to convert people by offering inducements.
Magistrate Dharmendra Tada acquitted Ramesh Kothe (59), Chandramohan (47), Janki Verma (41) and Maya (36) yesterday.
"The case had been registered against these four on the complaint of Shivraj Singh under the Madhya Pradesh Religious Freedom Act on November 7, 2014," defence lawyer Shailendra Dwivedi told reporters.
Singh had alleged that the accused were trying to lure people to convert to Christianity by offering government jobs and interest-free loans of Rs 5 lakh.
However, most of the prosecution witnesses didn't support the charges, the defence lawyer said.
