With some of its top leaders including party chief Om Prakash Chautala in jail, INLD tonight announced the name of his grandson and Hisar MP Dushyant as its candidate for Uchana Kalan seat for the October 15 assembly polls in Haryana.
Om Prakash, the former Haryana Chief Minister who is serving prison term in JBT scam case, had won from Uchana in 2009 by defeating then Congress leader Birender Singh.
Dushyant's mother Naina Singh will contest from Dabwali seat held by her husband Ajay Singh Chautala, party's senior leader and Ellenabad MLA Abhay Chautala said while announcing the names of remaining seven candidates out of a total of 88 seats which INLD is fighting.
"Dushyant (26), who is party's sitting MP from Hisar, would contest from Uchana Kalan, the assembly segment which falls in the Hisar parliamentary constituency," he said.
Dushyant is the country's youngest MP and he had defeated Haryana Janhit Congress President Kuldeep Bishnoi from Hisar in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
BJP has already announced Birender Singh's wife Prem Lata as party candidate from Uchana Kalan.
Besides Om Prakash, two more party leaders Ajay Singh and Sher Singh Badshami are serving prison term in connection with the 14-year-old Junior Basic Teachers (JBT) teachers recruitment scam case.
Ladwa seat, which was represented by Badshami, will be contested by his wife Bachan Kaur.
Among other candidates which the INLD named in its fourth and final list of candidates included former MLA Chander Bhatia from Badhkal, Neelam Narang from Panipat City and Fakir Chand from Kalanaur (SC).
At present, INLD's campaign for the upcoming Haryana polls is being spearheaded by its second-rung leaders in the absence of their top leadership.
