The competition held at the University of Engineering and Management at Chomu, near here, showcased over 150 robotics models, including a design for safe rail travel, a wireless burglar prevention invisible curtain which will intimate the nearby police station as soon as there is a burglary attempt and a fire extinguisher.
A student from Sharjah showcased a light dependent register model which can be used in university classrooms. The small equipment counts attendance and also switches off all electric lights and fans as soon as all students go out of the classroom", Satyajit Chakrabarti, the Vice Chancellor of the university, said.
All the models bagged cash prizes of Rs 25,000 each at the competition inaugurated by Prof Jonathan Bacon, Dean of University of Sussex, the UK.
More than six thousand students visited the exhibition.
The students with the help of their projects and live demonstration described how human life has become much easier and uncomplicated through science.
Various types of autonomous talking, listening and seeing robots were also demonstrated.
