Inter-state crime coordination meet to be held at Gurgaon

Haryana DGP B S Sandhu today said an inter-state coordination meeting would be held at Gurgaon tomorrow to formulate a strategy for checking crimes and strengthening policing system, especially in the inter-state border areas of northern states.

The meeting would be co-chaired by DGPs of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and the commissioner of police, New Delhi.

Sandhu said among the major areas of concern were the inter-state movement of criminals gangs, sharing of details of inter-state criminals, information regarding auto thieves and stolen vehicles, mutual cooperation in preventing human trafficking.

In addition to this, good practices adopted in these states to further strengthen the police system would also be shared, he added.

He said police officers would share intelligence to check cow smuggling, information about terrorists, mutual cooperation in arresting wanted criminals, information about illicit weapons, online frauds and cyber crimes, traffic congestion and detection of pre-natal sex determination in border areas.

In a recent annual conference of DGPs and IGPs in Madhya Pradesh's Tekanpur, the need for better coordination among state police forces was emphasised.
