Seventeen Grand Masters and 28 International Masters, among others, will vie for honours at the 10-day tournament, where Rs 10 lakh prize money will be on offer, organisers said today.
The event will be conducted as per Swiss League method, said G Ravi Teja, convener of the tournament, at a press conference here.
Players from the USA, Russia, Uzbekistan, Nepal, the Philippines, Ukraine, Bangladesh, Belarus and Singapore have confirmed their participation, he added.
All Vizag District Chess Association, in association with Andhra Pradesh Chess Association, is conducting the championship under the aegis of All India Chess Federation and World Chess Federation.
