Interstate gang of car thieves busted; 6 held

An interstate gang of vehicle lifters was today busted with the arrest of six persons, police said.
Three trucks, five luxury cars and two motorcycles were seized from their possession.
Delhi police had also been on the look out for one of the accused, identified as Ikram, for being allegedly involved in several auto-theft cases in the national capital.
Apart from Ikram, the rest of the arrested persons have been identified as Sher Mohd, Rajeev Pathak, Shajad, Najeem and Deen Mohd, all aged between 22 and 32 years, and belonging to Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.
"Two separate Crime Branch teams arrested the accused from the Vijay Nagar and Kavinagar areas last night. We had received information that they would come to these areas to steal vehicles and laid a trap to nab them," said SSP (Ghaziabad), Dharmender Singh.
All the accused have multiple vehicle theft cases registered against them at different police stations in the district.
