Modi chaired a high-level meeting here to review the preparations for that day. The events are likely to include a mass yoga programme at Rajpath here involving experts in this field, like Ramdev, sources said.
June 21 was declared as the International Yoga Day by the United Nations in December last year after Modi's push.
Emphasizing that Yoga's central theme is "synergy," Modi today called for a coordinated effort, not only involving various ministries and departments, but also with people's active participation, to enable a befitting celebration for the first International Yoga Day," a PMO statement said.
The planning of activities and events on the Yoga Day should aim to make it a mass movement, all over the world, the Prime Minister said as he was given an overview of the preparations for the various events being planned in India and across the world to mark the day.
