Asansol Durgapur Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central) Biswajit Ghose today confirmed the arrest of Chunilal Mishra, INTTUC leader, for the asault.
The assault had led to an impasse in the JK Nagar colliery at Raniganj in Burdwan district over the incident with the management putting up a suspension of work notice on the mine till he was arrested.
INTTUC president Dola Sen today said that Chunilal Mishra had been suspended by the trade union president in the ECL.
The mine produces around 400-450 tonnes of coal every day and falls under the medium to large category. Any closure would have impacted the power sector reeling under inadequate coal supply.
