AI-SATS Airport Services today said it has invested a further Rs 57 crore in new ground support equipment (GSE) to expand capacity at the Delhi airport.
AI-SATS Airport Services Pvt Ltd is a 50:50 joint venture between national carrier Air India and Singapore Airport Terminal Services, which provides ground-handling and cargo-handling facilities at a number of airports in the country.
This investment is part of the Rs 85 crore invested in GSE by AI-SATS in the past one year, a company release said.
The total investment in the JV, since it became operational in 2010, currently stands at Rs 160 crore, it added.
"We have invested more than Rs 160 crores in ground support equipment (so far). This latest enhancement in our service offering in Delhi is in consonance with our commitment towards innovation and efficiency, while never compromising on safety and operational excellence," Chief Executive of AISATS Willy Ko was quoted as saying in the release.
The joint venture is committed to India and certainly would like to expand its contribution and participation in India's new growth story, he said, adding, certainly the "Make in India" vision offers many opportunities for AISATS, its employees and partners.
While AISATS would continue to relentlessly look for new business opportunities, at the same time, it would also continuously strengthen its operations here, Ko added.
The deployment of new equipment would not only ensure smooth handling of flight operations but will also enhance AISATS' capability to handle wider range of aircraft and potential new customer airlines, the company said.
Currently employing over 7,000 staff, AISATS offers end-to-end ground handling services such as passenger and baggage-handling, ramp-handling, aircraft interior cleaning, load control and flight operations, and cargo-handling services, among others.
