Inviting Sharif and leaving Modi was unwarranted: Digvijay

Congress leader Digvijay Singh today criticised Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari for inviting Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while leaving out Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the anointment ceremony of his son on November 22.
"It is not fair that Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been invited and the Indian Prime Minister has not been given invitation by the Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid for the anointment ceremony of his son," Digvijay Singh told reporters in Jodhpur. He was here to attend a private function.
Singh, who was accompanied by Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh, said that Modi must have been sent an invitation but preferring Sharif over him is an unwarranted move.

Referring to the recent submission of Modi on the ignorance of the total amount of black money abroad, Singh said that Modi had given a rough figure of the black money before election and had claimed that every Indian would have Rs 3 lakh in his hands if that money was brought back to the nation.
"Now the same person has pleaded ignorance about the exact money parked in the overseas bank accounts," he said adding that by doing so Modi has duped the Indian voters, who probably voted him to power trusting his words and claims.
On the other hand, Virbhadra Singh abstained from making any comment on black money.

However, he said that Modi government has just started its stint and it would be too early to make any comment on its functioning.

"It would have to be seen that if this government continues to work with this energy and spirit and meet the expectations of the people," he said.
19-year-old Shaban, who is pursuing Bachelors in Social Work at a private university, will be anointed as the 'Naib Shahi Imam' (Vice Imam) at a ceremony in the historic Jama Masjid which is expected to be attended by religious leaders including some from abroad.
"I have invited several Indian and foreign political leaders for attending the anointment ceremony of my son. Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also been invited, but I have not sent invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Muslims have not forgiven him for the Gujarat riots," Bukhari said here.
