ISB launches 'Big Leap Club' to help SMEs
Press Trust of India Mohali (Pb) The Indian School of Business (ISB) today launched 'Big Leap Club' exclusively for SMEs spread in and around Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh to help them get access to the best industry practices to become more efficient.
The Club was formally launched at the Big Leap Summit, organised by the Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing (MIGM) at ISB Mohali campus.
SMEs from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and surrounding areas will get to interact with ISB faculty, experts from organisations like Microsoft, National Stock Exchange (NSE), Angel Broking and World Institute of Action Learning on various aspects of finance, technology, productivity, marketing, negotiations, said ISB release.
Pradeep Singh, CEO - Mohali campus and Deputy Dean, ISB said that the need of the hour is to put in combined efforts from academia and industry to foster growth in the MSME sector.
"The ISB Big Leap Club is an initiative in this direction through which SMEs will get to learn latest best practices that will help them to overcome challenges, manage their processes better and benchmark themselves to meet global standards," he said.
MSME Secretary Madhav Lal assured complete support of the central government to the SMEs for all initiatives aimed at placing them on a high growth trajectory.
He said, "A cooperative approach from the government, academia and the industry associations is required to give a fillip to the micro, small and medium enterprises to make a powerful impact. If we are to give an impetus to growth and generate employment opportunities, we have to focus on finding ways to increase SME's contribution in the manufacturing sector from the present 16 per cent to 25 per cent by the year 2015.
