Talks for the release of ISIS abducted University of Sirte assistant professor P Gopikrishna who is a native of Tekkali in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh are on and hopefully he will be freed, Andhra Pradesh Labour and Employment Minister K Atchem Naidu said here today.
The minister expressed hopes that efforts being made by the union government with the Government of Libya will be successful, since no specific demands have been made by the abductors.
The minister called on Gopikrishna's parents on Sunday at the latter's residence at Tekkali and told them about efforts being made by the Centre to secure the safe release of Gopikrishna and another lecturer Balram Kishan from ISIS captivity.
He said that his brother's son and MP Kinjarapu Rammohan Rao met the Union Minister for Home Affairs and the Union External Affairs Minister to urge them to speed up negotiations with the Government of Libya.
