Vijayan, who met Shantanagoudar at Kochi this evening, later told reporters that the Chief Justice told him there was no ban on the entry of media personnel to the High Court for covering legal proceedings.
The High Court Registrar, to whom the media personnel had wrote a letter with regard to a some advocates continuing to prevent them from covering court proceedings, would be replying to the complaint, Vijayan said.
A media delegation headed by Philip Mathew, Editor, Malayala Manorama; also comprising M V Shreyan's Kumar, Director, Mathrubhumi; and M G Radhakrishnan, Chief Editor, Asianet; had on October 5 called on President Pranab Mukherjee urging him to find a solution to the issue at the earliest.
Mathew had then handed over a memorandum to the President requesting his urgent intervention to defuse the situation and re-establish freedom of the press, which is a pre-requisite to a healthy democracy.
When the issue went to the Press Council of India, it issued notice to the parties concerned.
After the advocates threatened to take on the media physically, reporters have not been able to go to the High Court to report its proceedings since July 19.
Vijayan said since the situation had not been normal, he along with Advocate General C P Sudhakara Prasad met the Chief Justice today.
