"Since, April to November 11 this year we have collected Rs 13,827 crore, up by 5 per cent over the corresponding period last year.
"We are confident that we will achieve the target," Income Tax chief commissioner (Kolkata) C L Denzongpa said here today on the sidelines of an IT book launch 'How to handle Income Tax Problems' by Narayan Jain and Dilip Loyalka.
He said we have two more quarters to go and the last quarter of the year account for 40 per cent of the total collection.
In 2013-14, the total collection for the circle was Rs 20,593 crore and for Sikkim it was Rs 65 crore.
IT sources said the department was carrying out investigations independently on ponzi companies including Saradha.
