Viola Davis says everything comes at a cost and the #MeToo movement will also have a certain impact post the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment expose.
The 52-year-old actor praised the people who have shared their stories to bring the deep-rooted exploitation at the hands of powerful men in light, Variety reported.
Speaking at the Women in the World salon, Davis said, "Nothing can be great unless it costs you something. I think that people sometimes want to take the safe route. For me, everything has cost me something. The way life works, it's gotta cost you something. That's when you know you've really made the sacrifices..."
The "How to Get Away with Murder" star also touched upon her experiences of being sexually harassed.
"I cannot tell you at any time in my life that I was not sexually assaulted in some way..." she said.
Davis added that studio heads have to start giving a go-ahead to movies that showcase people of colour in key roles. She said they are still given minor parts.
"Inclusivity has to start with studio heads who greenlight movies. They won't consider you for a role they wrote for Sandra Bullock or Reese Witherspoon," she said.
