J&K CM should not have allowed Guru's execution: PDP

The Opposition People's Democratic Party today said Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should not have allowed the execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru in view of its adverse impact on political and psychological fronts in the Valley.
"No Chief Minister, other than some one belonging to Sheikh family, would have allowed the execution of Afzal Guru in view of its tremendous fallout on the political and psychological fronts of Kashmir", senior PDP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Muzaffar Hussain Baig told reporters here.
"The Sheikh family has been given the job of hangman exclusively as is established by the execution of Afzal and before him Maqbool Bhat", Baig alleged.

Baig, who was disallowed from speaking on Guru issue in the state Assembly, said the CM has lowered the prestige and value of his position.
"He is an insult to the state of Jammu and Kashmir and has brought Chief Minister's position into disrepute", he said.
Baig said, the CM in reply to the debate on the adjournment motion ironically claimed credit for clamping curfew, banning newspapers and unleashing repression in the Valley, adding "as if he has done a favour to all us, it looks".
"Guru's hanging was 'selective' and 'out of turn'. Murderers of former Chief Minister of Punjab Biant Singh and the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi though convicted earlier have been spared so far", he questioned adding Guru's hanging raises questions about the central government's intent and impartiality.
