In his reply to questions on the issue, Minister of State for Industry and Mining Saurabh Patel said, "government will take stern actions, including invoking PASA, against those resorting to illegal mining."
He also informed the house that "the government has also introduced Mine Mineral Audit system and initiated e-delivery, e-weighbridge, e-royalty, bar coding and hologram system in the mining sector to reduce corruption and increase efficiency".
In the year 2012, government granted lease for the mining of 10,93,994 tonnes minerals from government land in Jamnagar district and 5,50,000 tonnes in Rajkot district, he informed.
