In its effort to speed up the revenue realization, Jammu and Kashmir government is considering one-time amnesty to the power consumers to clear their pending bills.
"Government is considering giving one-time general amnesty to the power consumers so that they can pay their (pending) electricity bills after settling the same with the Power Department," Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said.
Singh, who chaired a high-level meeting of Power Development Department here yesterday, said a proposal for giving one-time amnesty to the consumers would be submitted to the Cabinet so that the revenue realization is speeded up.
"The consumers who have not been paying their dues on account of the accumulation of the interest and other related duties will be benefited by the same besides the department will also get the requisite revenue," he said.
Singh also directed the officers to speed up the land acquisition cases of various new power projects which have been taken up by the government.
He said the officers of various departments should work in close coordination to remove the bottle necks if any.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed the officers to speed up the regularization process of various daily wagers appointed in the department from time-to-time.
Singh said the same should be done in a time bound manner so that the persons so appointed get the requisite benefit.
