"The DGP reviewed the arrangements for the festival, scheduled on May 26, at a meeting attended by senior police, CRPF and civil officers at district police lines Ganderbal," an official spokesman said.
Nestled in the shade of mammoth Chinar trees at Tulmulla village, the Khir Bhawani temple is dedicated to Ragnya Devi, a revered goddess of Kashmiri Pandits and witness massive crowds of devotees, most of them migrants of the community.
The DGP K Rajendra Kumar asked for adoption of latest techniques to improve security grid for devotees and for the smooth conduct of the festival.
The police chief asked for strenuous efforts to ensure smooth traffic movement on the routes leading to the shrine during the celebrations.
Kumar later addressed jawans and officers at a 'police darbar' and congratulated the forces, "who despite facing tough challenges, have succeeded in prevailing a sense of security among the people of the state".
"With the active cooperation of the people, the force has succeeded in bringing peace in the state and it would be our endeavour to keep the peace maintained at all levels," he said reiterating that safety of human lives and public property would remain among top priorities of the force.
