A police spokesman said the sum has been sanctioned out of Central Police Welfare Fund. The contributory fund has been created to encourage the talented school going children of police personnel.
"Director General of Police S P Vaid today sanctioned special reward of Rs 4,58000 in favour of 89 wards of serving police personnel, who have secured above 80 per cent marks in the annual examination of class 12th during the academic session 2016-17," the spokesman said.
Thirteen students, securing above 90 per cent, have been provided Rs 6000 each, while those scoring bteween 80 and 90 per cent have been given Rs 5000 each, he added.
