J&K to link power connections with Aadhaar cards, ration cards

In a major step to discourge illegal power connections in Jammu and Kashmir, the state government had decided to link electric connections with Aadhaar and ration cards.
"In order to identify the genuine power consumers and increase the revenue generation, electric connections would be seeded with the Aadhaar cards and the ration cards being issued by the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department," Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting yesterday.
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Choudhary Zulfkar Ali and top officials of departments were also present in the meeting.
