"We do not want their money, we just want that the attackers be punished. We reject any financial assistance by the government. They have failed to deliver justice. There is no government, there is no justice," Ghulam Rasool Bhat, father of Zahid Ahmad told reporters here.
Zahid Ahmed (19) and Showkat Ahmed (35) were severely injured when allegedly a petrol bomb was hurled at their truck last week, in Udhampur.
"We handed over cheques and cash totaling Rs 40,000 to Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during his tour to Anantnag yesterday. He took the money without saying anything," he said.
The aggrieved father said the government had "insulted" them by providing "few thousand" rupees in relief for their sons' treatment and was "creating hype" by promising it would take care of their treatment.
The duo flanked by independent legislator Shiekh Abdul Rashid, alleged that Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and Tehsildar Anantnag threatened them, if they revealed the condition of their sons before the media.
Rashid assured the families that he would bear all the expenses of the treatment of the injured and paid Rs 1 lakh each to both the families as first installment.
"I will go to Delhi with them and see to it that both the injured are treated well," he said.
The two truckers, who were admitted to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu were recently flown to AIIMS in Delhi for better treatment.
