Jharkhand Food, Public Distribution and Consumers Secretary Vinay Kumar Choubey today said his department has made significant achievements during the tenure of the BJP government, which completes 1,000 days in the state on September 22.
The department has been successful in making food grains available to people, he told reporters here.
Jharkhand is the first state where the PTG Dakia Yozana, direct benefit transfer for distribution of kerosene, and providing gas cylinder and oven to the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yozana began, Choubey said.
Under the Food Security Act, implemented in the state in October, 2015, 560,6879 families are given wheat/rice for one rupee. Before the implementation of the Act, the figure was 350,9833 families, he said.
Choubey said distribution of grains has increased to 145,000 metric tonne now from 97,000 metric tonne before.
Commission of dealers has also risen to one rupee per kg from 26 paise per kg.
The beneficiaries are given double fortified iodine, he said.
Choubey said a total 10,38,714 ration cards have been scrapped, while 9,31,079 ration cards have been added during the government's tenure so far. Till August, 2017, 72,000 metric tonne of food grains worth Rs 200 crore have been saved, he said.
The work to link ration cards with Aadhaar cards has been completed, he added.
