He will meet Governor on Sep 30 to request him to convene the Assembly

Seeking to corner the ruling Congress and main opposition TDP, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) today urged the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker to convene a special session to move a resolution in favour of united Andhra Pradesh.

"We have urged the Speaker to convene the Assembly immediately so that a resolution can be passed before the Union Cabinet note for bifurcation is cleared," YSRCP deputy floor leader B Sobha Nagi Reddy told reporters here.

YSRCP President Jaganmohan Reddy would meet Governor E S L Narasimhan on September 30 to request him to convene the Assembly. The party's Honorary President, Y S Vijayamma, has written a letter to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy with a similar demand.

Alleging that Congress and TDP played politics on the issue of AP's division, Nagi Reddy said if a special session is convened, the stance of all parties would come out on the floor of the House.

YSRCP MLA G Srikant Reddy quoted the Legislative Assembly Speaker N Manohar as saying he would go by the rules and also convey their views to Chief Minister.

When told that the YSRCP has changed its stance and favouring united AP now, Nagi Reddy said the fledgling party is sincere in fighting for the unity of the State.

Meanwhile, YSRCP is seeking the support of CPI(M) and MIM - a Hyderabad-based party - which have been opposed to division of AP for its demand.
