YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy would tour the cyclone-ravaged areas of north coastal Andhra Pradesh from tomorrow and oversee the relief and rehabilitation works.
The Leader of Opposition in the Assembly will leave here for Rajahmundry, East Godavari district tomorrow en route to Visakhapatnam, which was hit by the cyclone 'Hudhud' yesterday.
Owing to the natural calamity, the Opposition party has also postponed its October 16 state-wide protest programme over delay in implementation of waiver of farm loans.
"Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will leave for Rajahmundry and reach Vizag in whatever mode of transport that is available and tour the battered Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam districts.
"He will stay put there to oversee the relief and rehabilitation works, meet the affected families and help them get faster relief," senior YSRC leader Dharmana Prasada Rao told reporters here.
As the cyclone has left a trail of destruction, Reddy has called upon the party cadre to connect with the people and help them in getting faster aid.
Farmers, weavers, small business units and other sections have been badly affected by the cyclone, the party noted.
"Local leaders will organise the tour programme of Jagan Mohan Reddy from Vizag and upwards, and this tour would in no way affect the Government's operations. On the other hand, his tour will help the affected people to get the aid quicker," Rao said.
