Jaipur discom registers 62% growth in online bill payment

Jaipur discom has registered 62 per cent growth in number of electricity subscribers paying their bills online, an official said.

The discom had started a scheme for subscribers to pay their bills online, after which 84,281 subscribers paid their bills through various online modes. In July, 2017, 1,34,429 subscribers paid their electricity bills online, which rose to 2,18,710 in February 2018, he said.

A total of Rs 25.87 lakh was given as online bill payment encouragement prize to 1,000 subscribers selected through lottery. The sum was adjusted in their electricity bill, Jaipur discom managing director R G Gupta said in a release.

He said that under the scheme, 100 subscribers are selected through a lottery every month that pay their electricity bill of up to Rs 20,000 online.

The selected subscribers are given a maximum of Rs 5,000 or actual bill amount, whichever is less, as a reward, which is adjusted in their bills.
