Jamaica's Hue banned 9 months for doping

FIFA suspended Jamaica player Jermaine Hue for nine months on Thursday after he tested positive for a banned substance at a World Cup qualifying match.
Team doctor Carlton Fraser was banned from football for four years for administering the drug, dexamethasone, FIFA said Thursday.
"This suspension covers all types of matches, including domestic, international, friendly and official fixtures," FIFA said.
Hue, a 35-year-old midfielder with Jamaican club Harbour View, tested positive after Jamaica's 2-0 loss against Honduras in Tegucigalpa on June 11.
Hue was an unused substitute in the match, though all squad members can be selected among the two players typically chosen at random to provide samples.

Four days earlier, he started in Jamaica's 2-1 loss against the United States in a qualifier in Kingston.

A former player for Kansas City Wizards and Swedish club Mjallby, Hue was appearing in his fourth consecutive World Cup qualifying campaign.
Jamaica is last in a six-team CONCACAF qualifying group and has little chance of qualifying for next year's World Cup in Brazil.
FIFA said Hue's suspension expires on May 6, 2014, and Fraser's ban runs until Aug. 7, 2017. They can appeal.
Hue is the second player suspended by FIFA for doping in the current World Cup qualifying program.
In March, FIFA banned Peru midfielder Joel Sanchez for two years. He tested positive for the stimulant methylhexaneamine after a 1-1 draw at Bolivia in La Paz last October.

FIFA is currently prosecuting cases against players from Morocco and Zimbabwe after positive tests at World Cup matches.
