"Furious 7" director James Wan got a swanky bash in his honour after the film became the fastest to reach USD 1 billion at the box office, just 17 days after its release.
Paradigm Chairman Sam Gores hosted the event at his Beverly Hills home, where Vin Diesel toasted the 38-year-old director alongside Universals' Jeff Kirschenbaum and Jay Polidoro and "Furious 7" producers Neal Moritz, Amanda Lewis and Samantha Vincent, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
A number of industry leaders were in attendance as well, including Warner Bros Chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara, New Line head Toby Emmerich, Lionsgate Co-Chairman Rob Friedman, Focus CEO Peter Schlessel, Disney's Sam Dickerman, Sony Pictures Doug Belgrad and Matt Milam, Paramount's Ashley Brucks and producers Charles Roven and Mark Burg, among many others.
"Furious 7" is the latest in a hot streak for Wan, who has shepherded three other franchises to success - including "Saw", "Insidious" and "The Conjuring". He is set to direct "The Conjuring 2" for New Line in the fall and is producing "Insidious 3".
