The Jammu High Court Bar Association today decided to suspend work in all courts for four days from tomorrow to press for deportation of illegally settled immigrants and handing over the alleged rape-cum-murder case of a minor girl in Kathua district to the CBI.
The bar announced the decision after a four-hour long meeting, a spokesman said.
"As a corollary of the general house meeting, a resolution was passed that work in all the courts, including the high court, shall remain suspended from April 4 to April 7," he said.
The spokesman said the association had resolved to hold a meeting with the Jammu Civil Society, including presidents of different organisations, on April 7 to mobilise public opinion to chalk out a strategy for further course of action on the issues.
"All the speakers while addressing the house were vociferous against the sinister design of the coalition government, which has deliberately created a hostile situation in an attempt to create a wedge and disturb the harmonious atmosphere and character of the Jammu region," he added.
He said the general house resolved that the association would continue its fight against the illegally settled immigrants.
